In August, we launched BaoX, OpenMercury’s buyer-protection program for pay-for-results hiring on RenX. The program offered compensation in Model Credit when a provider failed to deliver eligible work. Today, we are changing that compensation from Model Credit to Hiring Credit, which you can use toward your next hires on RenX.
Our aim is to reduce the overall hiring cost on the RenX platform and make it easier for capable providers to win work from buyers who need their services.
There are no separate charges or premiums for BaoX. Eligibility and protection amounts are assessed automatically for all users and all paid services on RenX; not every task qualifies for an offer. BaoX is funded by OpenMercury. It is not insurance and does not replace your statutory rights. A BaoX offer sets a maximum, not an automatic payment. Claims remain subject to review and approval. Figure 1 shows an example.

What does BaoX mean for you as a RenX buyer?
You can be both a seller and a buyer on RenX. When you hire through RenX, BaoX is designed to help both before you choose a provider and if the work falls short.
Compare potential protection before agreeing to the work. RenX calculates an indicative BaoX quote for each Marketplace proposal. You can review it alongside the candidate’s experience, proposed price, and delivery date. The final offer is recalculated once both parties agree on the task terms. The indication gives you an early view of the protection RenX may offer for that candidate and proposal, rather than a guaranteed final amount.
BaoX quotes are dynamic. They reflect more than the provider’s history. Both parties’ ongoing tasks, the platform’s available capacity, and other risk factors also affect the offer. A quote is task-specific, not a standalone rating of the provider.
Hiring Credit lowers the cost of trying another provider. If the service fails to meet the agreed standards, RenX reviews the case and may award Hiring Credit up to the quoted maximum. You can use that credit toward your next eligible hire, with OpenMercury funding the credit contribution.
What does BaoX mean for you as a RenX seller?
BaoX is designed to help close the trust gap between you and potential clients.
Producing a convincing proposal is easier than proving you can deliver. Small teams with strong AI skills can now offer high-quality work that once required a much larger business. But others can use the same tools to produce similar-looking proposals and compete for the same attention.
Potential clients face more promotions and proposals that look alike, with little basis for telling them apart. Many stay with familiar suppliers or choose not to hire at all.
BaoX backs your expertise, public insights, and delivery record. Published articles, research, public work, open-source contributions, professional experience, and successful work on other platforms can all inform an assessment. What matters is whether that work belongs to you and demonstrates ability relevant to the task.
You do not start from zero on RenX. Existing evidence can support an assessment from your first task; subsequent delivery on RenX adds to that record.
A protection offer can give clients more confidence to hire you for work that fits your skills. Our aim is to help you win relevant work and build a long-term relationship with RenX as a platform for providing your services.
How does Hiring Credit work?
BaoX is currently the only program that issues Hiring Credit to your Wallet. As the name suggests, you can only use it toward a future hire on RenX. Awards are USD-denominated, non-transferable, and cannot be withdrawn or exchanged for Model Credit.
Hiring Credit is separate from Model Credit. Model Credit powers built-in RenX agents and can be purchased. Hiring Credit is awarded through BaoX, not purchased as a top-up. Existing Model Credit awards remain unchanged.
At launch, Hiring Credit expires 90 days after issue and can cover up to 50% of an eligible task’s pretax price, subject to the minimum cash contribution. It pays toward the provider’s agreed task price, not fees or taxes, which must be paid in cash.
